यूपी के सुल्तानपुर में शनिवार देर रात करीब 2 बजे पुलिस और एक्सीईएन हत्याकांड के आरोपियों के बीच मुठभेड़ हो गई, जिसमें मुख्य आरोपी जल निगम के एई अमित कुमार समेत दो आरोपी प्रदीप के पैर में गोली लग गई। पुलिस ने बताया कि दोनों आरोपी वाराणसी के रास्ते बिहार भागने की कोशिश में थे। पुलिस द्वारा आत्मरक्षा में की गई फायरिंग के बाद दोनों आरोपी घायल हो गए, जिन्हें राजकीय मेडिकल कॉलेज में भर्ती कराया गया है।
मुठभेड़ के पीछे की घटना का जिक्र करते हुए बताया गया कि शनिवार की सुबह इन दोनों आरोपियों ने मिलकर नगर क्षेत्र में जल निगम के अधिशाषी अभियंता (एक्सीईएन) संतोष कुमार की पीट-पीटकर हत्या कर दी थी। संतोष कुमार बलिया जिले के रतसड़कला के निवासी थे और उनका परिवार प्रयागराज में रहता है। मृतक के भाई संजय कुमार की तहरीर पर एई अमित कुमार और एक अन्य अज्ञात व्यक्ति के खिलाफ हत्या का केस दर्ज किया गया था।
इस घटना ने सुल्तानपुर में सनसनी फैला दी, और पुलिस की तत्परता से आरोपी मुठभेड़ में पकड़े गए, जिससे यह मामला फिर से चर्चा में आ गया है।
